Program Pharma Impulses 2024

Harro Höfliger Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH

June 10, 2024 | 10.30 - 11.00 am

Transformation towards the factory of the future

Discover the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing in this presentation with Harro Höfliger. What are the reasons to move towards Stericlean+, the new benchmark for aseptic robotic applications? How is the access line redefining standards for medical device assembly?

Learn about the shift from automation to autonomy, the growing need for autonomous processes due to a scarcity of skilled workers, and the rising costs of personnel. Additionally, quality related risks need to be addressed with state-of-the-art technology.

Witness how the synergy between logistics devices from Stäubli and machine processes from Harro Höfliger addresses the emerging demands in intralogistics.

Join Pharma Impulses X ACHEMA to see that reducing operators in the manufacturing area is not just a possibility – the future starts now!

How to automate legacy freeze dryers to fulfill Annex I GMP

Azbil Telstar, Stäubli Robotics and Zimmer Group have worked closely together to devise a solution aimed at automating the loading and unloading process of legacy freeze dryers for both vials and bulk materials. This Proof of Concept (PoC) entails the elimination of operator intervention within the cleanroom environment. This is achieved through the implementation of an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) equipped with a 6-axis robot and a loading/unloading (L/U) cart positioned in proximity to the freeze dryer.

This update can be swiftly implemented while ensuring the continuous productivity of the production line. An upgrade of this PoC is in progress in order to run in Grade A addressing the Annex 1 requirement.

How to test and validate a robot for Pharma

Stäubli and SKAN, the worldwide leading manufacturer of isolator systems for aseptic drug manufacturing, will discuss about the requirements for robots in pharma industry and aseptic environments specifically.

Stäubli and SKAN‘s collaboration has driven the development of new features for the Stericlean package to ensure that the Stericlean+ robots are suitable for integration into pharmaceutical isolators and operation under aseptic manufacturing conditions.

Primary factors that were evaluated, include

  • Design and materials of the entire outer surface of the robots which need to be cleaned and decontaminated regularly and efficiently
  • Risk of particle generation by moving parts and how special attention was needed to go into the design and sealing of joints

At Pharma Impulses X ACHEMA Maximilian Mittelviefhaus, Head Research & SKANalytix, SKAN, details the procedure behind this comprehensive testing.

Enabling patient access to cell therapies for today and tomorrow

Stäubli and Cellular Origins will discuss about how to bring advanced industrial automation to bioprocess.

What problem is Cellular Origins solving?

Cell therapies cannot be manufactured at scale. The costs are too high and there is insufficient manufacturing capacity, all driven by the process being too labour intensive.

  • Therapy developers use the best tools for the biology, even if these are highly manual.
  • Moving away from these for commercialization is too risky due to regulatory resubmission requirements and biological uncertainty.
  • Therapy developers are also worried that if they adopt the wrong automation platform now it will made absolete when new technologies emerge.

Join the Pharma Impulses X ACHEMA session to learn more how Cellular Origins enables scalable, cost effective, space efficient cell therapy manufacture to transform patient access to cell therapies.
