Charging Solutions

Autonomous transport systems

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and cranes are used continuously in container terminals at ports or freight yards. Therefore, the systems must be durable, robust and provide maximum availability.

Electric powertrains provide these transport systems with exceptional energy efficiency, low maintenance and environmental friendliness. Combined with an intelligent charging solution, they can achieve maximum long-term performance. The requirements for these charging solutions are demanding: they must transmit the highest power in the shortest possible time and simultaneously be robust, safe and as wear-resistant as possible. Especially given the challenging environmental issues associated with seaports, the charging solutions must also be user-friendly and flexible.

With QCC, Stäubli offers a fully automated, rapid and compact charging solution for driverless transport systems. It is safe, powerful and field-proven – the ideal solution for port logistics.

Heavy commercial vehicles (trucks)

Heavy commercial vehicles have to cover long distances during the day. The electrification of these vehicles is making increasing progress and offers particular advantages as they are cheaper and in addition they do not emit any emissions and are quieter. A fast, safe and efficient charging solution is needed so that little time is lost during charging.

With the Megawatt Charging System (MCS), Stäubli has developed a charging solution around the specifications, originally developed together with the corresponding CharIN task force, that fits perfectly for this application. The Megawatt Charging System allows drivers to charge their electrical vehicle manually with up to more than 3 MW, successfully overcoming one of the road-blocks of manual heavy-duty vehicle charging. Featuring our patented MULTILAM contact technology, the system ensures  reliable fast-charging with highest current-carrying capacity.

Commercial vehicles and mobile machinery

High-performance commercial vehicles and mobile machinery operate under harsh conditions with dirt, dust, humidity and high temperatures when used in mines or the agricultural sector. Moreover, companies depend on continuous operations with the highest performance and maximum reliability. Electrifying these vehicles will be increasingly important as they are quieter, reduce emissions and offer a particularly dynamic powertrain that cuts down on operating and maintenance costs. Robust and effective charging solutions are needed in these challenging environmental conditions, whether above or below ground. Our solutions provide the highest charging performance, maximum reliability and safety. You can always count on perfect functionality and the simplest possible operation.

Stäubli’s fully automated QCC rapid charging system has been engineered to meet even the toughest requirements. With its performance, safety and robustness, it fulfills the prerequisites for supplying high-voltage energy to electrified mining vehicles.
