Long-term support for clean drinking water through solar energy.

July 13, 2022

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Stäubli Renewable Energy for safe drinking water

Stäubli has supported Water Mission for clean drinking water in developing countries for over 20 years.

For more than two decades, Stäubli Renewable Energy has supported the North American nonprofit organization Water Mission. This organization provides access to clean drinking water to developing countries.

They design, build and implement safe water access, sanitation and hygiene solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas. Around 400 staff members work around the world to combat the world’s water scarcity crisis, using innovative technology and engineering expertise.

Although this support is not a revenue source for Stäubli, resources, products and experience are readily invested to help improve the lives of people around the world. Especially where there is an existential need for a resource like clean water. The support is in the form of solar PV connectors from the Stäubli MC4 product portfolio, cables, tools, training and financial donations.

A refugee camp in western Tanzania

One of Water Mission's many successful projects is the Nyarugusu refugee camp in western Tanzania. The camp houses over 155,000 refugees. The entire camp has been supplied with clean drinking water since December 2016. A larger water project, such as the one in Nyarugusu, consists of treatment plants usually located near a natural water source. Solar energy is the preferred and often the only source of electricity. Stäubli connectors, cables, and tools are used for the photovoltaic systems, ensuring a safe and long-term power supply.

Stäubli US has a long-standing relationship with Water Mission and is pleased with the organization’s success in providing clean water for the basis of life through hard but rewarding work.

Stäubli Renewable Energy provides clean drinking water with product sponsorship.
